i am generally not one to gripe, but come ON . . . hair elastics these days are NOT what they used to be. they s t r e t c h out SO much after just one use. i remember being able to wear the same one for weeks . . . months even. but the ones today completely SUCK. they stretch out and loose their elasticity within minutes. my theory is that in this disposable world, things are made to break down quickly, forcing you into frequent replacments. but i live in pony tails, so this really affects me. am i simply buying the wrong brands ? if anyone has any tips on hair elastics that really do hold the hair, please share.
p.s. . . don't get me started on bobby pins, that is a WHOLE other topic.

funny, i've been reading your blog for a while now, and *this* is the first time i have left a comment! i SO agree! my solution is to tie 2 bands together with a sort of loop knot. the pony stays tighter longer and the bands last much longer. good luck!
yeah, i guess most of my posts aren't "open for discussion" type posts, but i LOVE getting any sort of comment ! i like your 2 bands together idea, i will try that. with a new band, i loop it around the ponytail 3 times....today i had to loop it 6 times and it is still loose.
with the horrible wold affairs and wars going on, i know this is such a miNUTE issue, but it's nice to get it off my chest. it's a girl thing.
ditto what vicki said, i have been a long time reader and this is my first post...
if you are having bobby pin problems too(most of the ones out there are, well, kinda sucky). they sell really really great bobby pins at the little grocery store in Japan Town in SF...they actually WORK! AND they keep working. i have fallen asleep with them in my hair, and in the morning am surprised to find them still in place :)
and yes, there are bigger issues on the world, but how can you focus on those if your hair is falling in your face?
I AGREE rae, elastics suck these days! And the worst is when they snap while you are trying to secure a ponytail! OW! Try having as much hair as I do... I feel your pain.
the old hair tie is a drama, they just don't make em like they used to..always breaking them...! rae, may i ask how did you put your etsy shop on your blog page is there code somewhere??
the best ties are at pierre la fond (downstairs, not upstairs) in montecito, cool colors, etc...however, they do stretch alittle, but you tie a knot and they work great!
oooh lots of good ideas. thanks everyone.
ANG...it's a cinch to add your etsy store to the blog. though i don't know exactly how i did it ! go to your layout page and it might be a gadget you add. your etsy site will have a code that you paste on. the "help" centers are great for info.
YES!!! SPOT ON!!! so irritating... all of mine are now stretched out. I never thought to make art out of them. Perhaps my life would be a lot more interesting if I just made art more often. I think I would enjoy it even more.
