kick it.

whitney smith + her hunky husband gave me this BEAUTIFUL old kick wheel (andrew found it on the STREET !) . . . it is truly an exquisite piece of furniture. i never really "took" to the wheel. while everyone in class was fighting for the good wheels and eagerly learning to center, i was always off in the corner, secretly hand building by myself (though i do LOVE to coil build tall vessels ON a wheel). but now that i HAVE this wheel, there is incentive to throw (you can see the tiny bowl on it that i just threw, you can also see wilma's butt). who knows? a year from now i might have a whole new line of work. stay tuned.

I find that kicking makes me more intuitive to the reaction of the clay. I love my kick wheel.

pouké, i'm sure it will take me a while to perfect the art of plate throwing (not the kind we do on new years day)! but i could hand build you some. are you looking for a thin light plate, or a chunky monkey plate ?!
