this flute was on display at the bennington museum. i love this museum. it was founded in 1852 and has the largest collection of gradma moses paintings (whom i adore), a fabulous pottery collection, old tools and musical instruments, plus so much more. as a flautist myself, i was particularly drawn to the simplicity of this old flute.

I am also a flautist. In fact, I recently bought one at an estate sale to dust off my skill (I played from 5th grade into college) I always wanted to be able to play the open holed kind, but fear that my fingers are too long (or maybe my talent is too short) My husband had never heard me play so he was most excited and impressed. Still, I'm not quite ready for a reunion tour, :)

Love the sketch! I used to play the oboe but since it has the same fingering as the flute, I bought a flute last year to start playing again ... I have yet to start, but thanks for reminding me about it!
i started playing the flute in 4th grade and well into my adult life. i was thinking how fun it would be to play in a quartet or something . . . should we all start a band ?!
OOh, let's do! (I love the sound of the oboe too but never realized that the fingerings are the same.
I had heard that the saxophone is, too.) We can be like the Bond Tribute String Trio :)
