it is definitely starting to turn sandal weather ! i love this season, where skimpy shoes and little frocks are my daily costume. i'll be back in the south of france soon and i look forward to seeing (and buying) the new 2012 french sandal ware.
i'm working on another collaboration with jess brown. she has designed a beautiful line of women's clothes (which i am stocking up on) that are simple, pure, and breathtakingly gorgeous . . . plus they FIT small people like us ! i'm designing a line of porcelain wares: cup, bowl, 2 sizes of trays, and a pitcher . . . stay tuned.
we go to vermont every summer for 2-4 weeks. there, we really connect to nature and the earth, leaving behind busy long-hour days at our offices. when you are far away from your reality and completely surrounded by the most beautiful landscape, it is easy to focus on the small things in life, such as the amazing mushrooms that grow wild all around us. i look forward to vermont all year long.
we are having a HUGE seconds/sample sale on may 5th. we are all in the spring cleaning mode and getting rid of wares that are firsts, seconds, samples, overstock, or that we're just TIRED of looking at.
"board." i am a lover a cheese (the stinkier, the better). my cheeseboard has been the perfect platform for these said cheeses. there are rubber bumpers on the bottom that make the board stay put and you can hang it on the wall as "art" when not in use !
. . . but how many treats you get for playing the game. wilma and her friend eagerly awaited the final tally and she was actually relieved that she did NOT win the cutest bay area dog contest. TOO much responsibility + being in the top 7 out of 500 dogs was good enough, she said. now she just wants to get back to her regular DOG LIFE.
thank you everyone for the votes and the moral support.
i'm sending off my JAR today for the JAR PROJECT. this will part of a sculptural installation at the BROOKLYN ART LIBRARY. there will be 200 sculptures in these same tiny jars. it was such a fun project for me, as i love containing things in small jars !
wilma has had ENOUGH of this cute dog contest (but who HASN'T ?!). she is burying her head in the sand until it is all over. but YOU still have until SUNDAY to vote everyday for WILMA !
an army of 100 handmade porcelain mini cups are marching over to recchiuti chocolate confections for a special mother's day gift box. as much as i am trying to steer away from production work, there is something satisfyingly methodical about making 100 of the same thing. plus, i couldn't resist working with jacky and michael recchiuti. sorry if you are one of the wholesale or production orders out there that i've had to turn down, but this one was too sweet to pass up.
