a smashing start.

after a fabulous new year's eve party at sara's, our clay posse spent the next day at whitney's house  throwing our old unwanted pots out of the second story window.  you know those not-quite-so-right pieces you have hidden under your desk or on the back shelf that are just weighing you down and taking up space?  well, we all lightened our loads and made room for the new and improved in 2009.

look at  josie hurling an old clunker out the window.  what an incredible sound and feeling of the clay hitting the cement.  it was very cathartic and satisfying.  and it feels great to have all of that stale energy OUT of the studio.

but wait . . . i couldn't resist rescuing just a few pieces of pots.  the shards and chunks looked so beautiful lying there on the ground . . .  in fact these pots never looked better.

out with the old . . . in with the new.

Those shards are so great, I'm glad you saved some. Are you going to make something with them?
Isn't there someone who makes jewelry from shards? I have a vague memory of seeing a Diana Fayt necklace...

thanks barb! yes, diana was there at the soiree and she mentioned the jewelry person. i'm thinking maybe a mosaic of some sort and in a few years....after i've collected enough of said shards!

hey karlita... i LOVE your felted scarves. so pretty. perhaps you could take a big pair of scissors and chop up the naughty ones into little pieces ?! maybe make confetti out of them and toss them in the air on new year's eve !! that might feel good. happy new year.

rae, that is against the law, and if i wasn't busy today i would have made a citizen arrest... i like the idea, almost a metaphor about moving on, not falling in love with an idea. good show. chuck

Re: the broken pieces of your pots - isn't it interesting how beautiful they look after they've been broken? Sometimes being broken is the very thing that is needed in order to bring out the beauty in all of us...

NOELLE....exactly ! and also i find beauty in the smallest part of a whole. the teeniest part of something that is so beautiful makes the whole package unexplainably beautiful...especially in a person.
